I’ve learned I am most at peace when I’m painting.
Specifically, when I’m creating abstract watercolors that interpret a song.
I’ll gather my supplies (watercolors, markers, pens, water, etc.), set up on the table, and pick a song that I feel is emotionally rounded. And I just put it on repeat. And for about half an hour, I just listen to the song over and over again, painting what I hear.
Each color represents a different element of the song, whether it be a tempo change, a vocal, an emotion being dealt with in the song, or even just a rhythm.
I feel on point; concentrated, when painting. Nothing around me is a bother, be it work, the home life, the love life, the anything. All that matters is transferring audio to visual. It’s not a “MUST GET THIS DONE” concentration or a “Oh fuck now what do I put down?” kind. Focusing on the beauty of the song, and how I can paint it is my world.
I made two today, and once they dry, I’ll upload them, with their respective songs linked. I hope you guys like them!
